Ken broke his foot while walking on an uneven footpath. The roads and footpaths in Mexico are of varying quality, and some of them can be quite worn or damaged. Ken had just finished a delicious dinner in a restaurant with friends. On the way to a nearby bar, Ken stumbled on uneven pavement and landed awkwardly on his foot. He was suddenly overwhelmed by pain when he tried to stand. He was rushed to hospital. Upon his arrival, doctors took x-rays and found that Ken had fractured his foot. Ken received treatment, pain medication and crutches—and then he was handed a bill for over $1,000. Ken contacted his travel insurance provider and was refunded for his medical expenses.
