Grant returned to his hire car to find that a window had been smashed. He had parked in a public area in broad daylight. Grant checked the car for further damage and discovered that his bags in the boot had also been stolen. Now without clothes and a passport, he reported the theft to police and then contacted his travel insurer. His travel insurer covered the hire car insurance excess that Grant was charged, as well as reimbursing him for his stolen luggage and passport. They also helped him get in contact with the local embassy to arrange an emergency passport.
