Ruby injured her wrist while riding a bicycle. Cycling is a popular form of transport in Germany; the infrastructure has been adapted to make it convenient to ride a bike. Ruby was riding her bike around the small streets of Frankfurt. She was riding down a narrow alley when the handlebars clipped a stone wall. Ruby fell. She broke her glasses and badly hurt her wrist. She was transported to the local hospital, where doctors told her she needed immediate surgery. Ruby’s injuries were serious and she was unable to continue on her holiday. She had to pay additional fees to change her flights so she could return home sooner. Ruby contacted her travel insurance provider to ask for assistance. They contacted the cruise company and the airline to cancel the pre-booked travel arrangements and organise flights home. The travel insurer also reimbursed her for the medical expenses and replaced her damaged glasses.
